Big houses, long driveways, fine furniture and a lot of rooms. Our in-house crews pad, wrap and protect every piece — and you pay by the hour, with no add-on fees.
Potomac homes tend to be large — four, five, six bedrooms, finished basements, home offices and a garage full of everything else. Moves here are less about speed through a building and more about care and organization: protecting floors and banisters, wrapping antiques and large casegoods, and keeping track of a lot of rooms.
We usually send a 3-mover crew to Potomac homes, sometimes with more than one truck run for very large houses. Every piece of furniture is padded and wrapped, mattresses go into bags, and beds and large tables are taken apart and reassembled at the new home. All of that is part of the job, not an upsell.
A lot of our Potomac work is also downsizing — moving from a family home into a condo in Bethesda or North Bethesda, or into a senior living community. If that’s your move, see our senior moving page for how we help plan what goes and what stays.
Same formula as every move: an hourly rate for your crew plus a one-time 1-hour arrival fee for the truck and travel. Big homes take more hours, so a 3-mover crew is usually the better value.
Example
A 3-mover crew works 7 hours from arrival to the end of unloading. You pay 7 hours of crew time + the 1-hour arrival fee = 8 billable hours at your crew’s hourly rate.
Because the total depends on the time actually worked, we don’t give fixed prices in advance. What we do give you up front is the hourly rate for your crew, so you can plan.
How our pricing worksYou choose a 2-mover or a 3-mover crew. Each has its own hourly rate, and you only pay for the time the crew actually works.
One hour added once per move. It covers the truck and the crew’s drive from our office to your Potomac address and back to the office afterwards.
The clock starts when the crew arrives at your job and stops when the last item is unloaded. That’s when your total is calculated — together, on the spot.
No fuel surcharges and no stair fees. Pads, shrink-wrap and furniture disassembly are part of the job.
Some Potomac driveways are long, steep or too narrow for a full-size truck. Tell us about access and gate codes so we can plan where the truck parks and how far the crew carries.
Point out heirlooms, glass tops, marble and artwork before we start. We pad and wrap every piece, and fragile items get extra attention when loading.
Communities like Avenel have their own rules for contractors and trucks. Check move-day requirements with your HOA in advance.
With many rooms, labeling matters. Label boxes and furniture by room at the new house, and we’ll place everything where it belongs.
We move many heavy items, but for full-size and grand pianos we recommend a specialty piano mover. We’re happy to coordinate timing with them.
Selling while you buy? We can move staging leftovers into storage and deliver later.

It depends mostly on how many rooms you have and how ready the house is when we arrive. As a rough guide for a 3-mover crew on a fully packed home:
| Home size | Typical crew | Typical time on site |
|---|---|---|
| 3 bedrooms | 3 movers | About 6–8 hours |
| 4 bedrooms | 3 movers | About 8–10 hours |
| 5+ bedrooms | 3 movers, sometimes 2 truck runs | A full day or more |
These are typical ranges, not promises — stairs, walk distance, and how much is packed in advance all change the hours. Your total is calculated after unloading.
Want fewer hours on move day? Our packing crew can pack the house a day or two before, so moving day is just loading, driving and unloading.
