Gaithersburg movers,
minutes away.

Townhomes in Kentlands and Lakelands, apartments near the Rio and Washingtonian Center, single-family homes in Quince Orchard and Montgomery Village — moved by our own in-house crews, billed by the hour.

01

A local crew for Gaithersburg moves.

Gaithersburg sits right next door to our Rockville base, up I-270 and Route 355. Being this close means we can often fit Gaithersburg moves on short notice, and the crew spends its time carrying furniture instead of sitting in traffic.

A lot of Gaithersburg housing is townhomes — three levels, a garage on the bottom, bedrooms on top. Townhouse moves are stair moves, so we plan them that way: usually a 3-mover crew, with one mover on the truck and two on the stairs, mattress bags and door-jamb protection, and beds taken apart before they go down the stairwell.

Every move includes furniture pads, shrink-wrap and disassembly/reassembly of standard furniture at no extra charge. If you need help before the truck shows up, our packing service is handled by the same in-house team, and storage is available if your closing dates don’t line up.

How you pay

What a Gaithersburg move costs

An hourly rate for your crew (2 or 3 movers) plus a one-time 1-hour arrival fee for the truck and travel. That’s the whole formula.

Example

A 3-mover crew works 5 hours from arrival to the end of unloading. You pay 5 hours of crew time + the 1-hour arrival fee = 6 billable hours at your crew’s hourly rate.

Because the total depends on the time actually worked, we don’t give fixed prices in advance. What we do give you up front is the hourly rate for your crew, so you can plan.

How our pricing works

Hourly crew rate

You choose a 2-mover or a 3-mover crew. Each has its own hourly rate, and you only pay for the time the crew actually works.

1-hour arrival fee

One hour added once per move. It covers the truck and the crew’s drive from our office to your Gaithersburg address and back to the office afterwards.

Total after unloading

The clock starts when the crew arrives at your job and stops when the last item is unloaded. That’s when your total is calculated — together, on the spot.

No add-on fees

No fuel surcharges and no stair fees. Pads, shrink-wrap and furniture disassembly are part of the job.

Local know-how

Moving in Gaithersburg: what slows a move down

Most of these are easy to fix before moving day — and every one of them saves billable time.

Kentlands & Lakelands alleys

Many Kentlands and Lakelands townhomes have rear garages on narrow alleys and front doors on tight streets. Tell us which side you want us to load from, and whether a full-size truck can get down the alley.

Three-level townhouses

Furniture often has to come down two flights. Empty dressers, take TVs off the wall if you can, and let us know about anything that came up the stairs in pieces.

Apartment communities

Garden-style communities around the Rio, Crown and Washingtonian Center often have no elevator and set move hours. Ask the leasing office about truck parking and any move-out rules.

HOA rules

Some HOAs limit how long a moving truck can park on the street or require notice. A quick email to your HOA before move day avoids surprises.

End-of-month rush

Lease turnovers make the last and first days of the month the busiest. If you can move mid-month, booking is easier and the roads are quieter.

Gaps between homes

Closing on the new place a week after you leave? We can load your home, hold it in storage, and deliver when you’re ready.

Moving between Gaithersburg and the rest of the county

Most Gaithersburg moves we do start or end somewhere nearby — a starter apartment near the Rio to a townhouse in Lakelands, a family home in Quince Orchard to a condo in Rockville, or up the road to Germantown and Clarksburg.

Because the clock runs from the moment the crew arrives until the last item is unloaded, the drive between your old and new homes is part of the billable time. Gaithersburg-to-Rockville or Gaithersburg-to-Germantown drives are short, which is one reason local moves here tend to finish in fewer hours than people expect.

FAQs

Questions we get a lot

How much do movers cost in Gaithersburg, MD?
You pay an hourly rate for a 2-mover or 3-mover crew plus a one-time 1-hour arrival fee that covers the truck and the crew’s travel from our office to your job and back. The clock stops when unloading is done, and that’s when your total is calculated. See typical hours by home size in our moving cost guide.
Do you move townhouses in Kentlands and Lakelands?
Yes, townhouse moves are a big part of our Gaithersburg work. We usually recommend a 3-mover crew for a townhouse so stairs don’t slow the job down.
Can you move me today or tomorrow in Gaithersburg?
Often, yes — Gaithersburg is close to our base. Same-day availability depends on the crew schedule, so call us at (800) 657-6959 as early in the day as you can. More on our same-day moving service.
Do you charge extra for stairs?
No. There are no stair fees and no fuel surcharges. Stairs simply take time, and you pay for the time worked.
Do you disassemble and reassemble beds?
Yes. Taking apart and putting back together standard furniture — beds, tables, desks — is included in the move.
